The BIN has proof via United States Census Records and from the obituary for Charity, that Charity is in fact the mother of Everett Mayfield Briles. She had him out of wed lock, then married a Johnson. Her tombstone and death certificate does not support this however the obituary and census records do.
Obituary listes several step-children from the Johnson family.It was common back in the 1800's and 1900's that if the daughter had a child out of wedlock
that the child would bare the mother's maiden or last name. Bastard Bonds were common back then requiring the father to either prove fatherhood or require financial responsibility for the child.The BIN believes has and proven that Everett is the son of Charity based on death, census, obit records and that she mothered him out of wedlock.
