Dorothy B. Briles, 91, of Monticello, formerly of Monon and Francesville, died Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at Twin Lakes Village in Monticello.
She was born in Lafayette on January 31, 1913, to Victor and Louise (Clerget) Moncel. She married Edwin Hauptli of Francesville. He is deceased. She then married Fred Briles in Monon. He is deceased.
She attended Francesville High School.
She owned and operated the Francesville Hotel for several years.
She was a homemaker.
She attended the First Baptist Church in Monon. Survivors include daughters, Cheryl Smith of Michigan City and Sallie (Frank) Blaser of Monticello; grandchildren Dottie Trusty of California, Ed Trusty, Dixie Hayeng, Wendy Slawson and Jim Slawson of Idaho and Patience Cooley of Monticello; sister, Grace Pauley of Monon; 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. One son, two daughters, six sisters and four brothers are deceased.
Funeral services were Sunday, November 7, 2004 at Kellogg Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Birch officiating.
Burial was in Roseland Cemetery, Francesville.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Monon.
