SELLERSBURG -- Jeanetta "June" Briles, 84, of Maple Manor Christian Home, died Monday at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN. She was the former Jeanetta Smith and a member of Hamburg Church of Christ. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Penne and Dickie Keith of Sellersburg and Wanda and Warren Whelan of New Albany, and three grandsons, Chris Keith, Tim Jonas and Gary Whelan. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Garr Funeral Home, with interment in Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Family information is unsure whether she was born in1921 or 1922. However, since her sister Melba was born in February 1923, the 1921 birth year seems the most likely.
In a letter from Winona Briles Brown (daughter of Lela's Uncle Wilbur) to Sara Briles Moriarty dated July 20, 1982, Winona reports that both Lela and her husband were at a Briles Family Reunion that took place in Italy, Texas, earlier that month, so they both still alive as of that date.
