Rex Briles, son of Ernest Michael and Cora Cain Briles, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 1942 in Alexandria, VA of an acute appendicitis. Mr. Briles was born on October 10, 1915 in Chipley, Florida and is one of eight children.

Funeral services were held July 25, 1942 at Guilford Memorial Park in Jamestown, NC. In addition to his parents, surviving is his wife, Ivy Black Briles; son, James Rex Briles of the home; brothers Clarence Ralph Briles and wife Mary Ann Briles of Asheville, Rudolph Valentino Briles and wife Emma Grey Briles of California, Raymond Briles and wife Mattie Kinley Briles of Asheboro, Ernest Michael Briles Jr. of California, Joseph Lafyette Briles and Fred Perry Briles of Asheboro; sister, Lucille May Briles of Asheboro.
